tag page..decided to make the whole page a giant tag..release the ribbon and the tag opens..

when the tag is released a feather falls loose...this is the year joy will fall on our house..God is good!

you may recognize her from a previous post ,,she is a little creation of mine that sold...this year I will trust my instincts. and Be my authentic self.

thu and fri....I think of the end of the work week as golden days...almost the weekend ..you can feel the sense of relief...

Challenge was to do a mosaic page so I did a small one, the faces remind me of all the wonderful people I take care of that have Alzheimer's disease..I like to think of them in their younger days. They bless my life daily.

It really is a magnificent tree that Hubby chose this year,I can not stop taking photos of it.

The peace that passes understanding is very evident today. I am so blessed to live the life Christ was born to give. The best gift I have ever received was His eternal love and care of me. Christmas took on a whole new meaning for me when Christ's love entered my heart, and the only word to describe it is eternal peace. I am praying that all who read this post will feel the joy and peace of Christ tonight. For those who do not have peace tonight it is a whisper away, even in a heart that is aching. Just tell Christ to come in and give you his heart of peace. Simple. That is the gift. Open it, receive it. It is yours. I am praying that tonight will bring a change for you and the peace that passes understanding will dwell in your heart forever.Blessings to all, and to all a good night.

This side of hope

Dear hope filled readers, what a lovely way to start a letter. Hope Filled. We should all be hope filled even if we are stuck in a situation that has not changed in awhile. How can I say this? Because that is where I pitch my tent, this side of hope, with my tent door open to the future. Not just any future but one in which my life is complete and all the situations have been solved or dissipated by the Glory I will Behold in the face of Christ.The brightness of His glory wiping away every tear I have shed and fading every image of pain I have ever felt. That is where I camp, this side of hope. There are mini hopeful vistas as I stare out of my tent, some situations have truly worked for my good already, others have yet to be revealed,BUT just so you do not think I am telling tale, here is one of my treasures.

I am a women who has never had a child. A painful thing to be sure. I am happily married yet never "blessed" with babies of my own to complete me, or so I thought! God had a better idea! After many years of struggle ,mostly internal,I gave up my desire to have a child and asked the Lord to refill it. He did. He gave me a wonderful ministry to women, 19 amazing nieces and nephews and a fulfilling career helping families diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. AND of course the wonderful world of art. I truly was complete! HOWEVER, God was not done. He went way beyond what I could ask or hope for and has given my husband and me two beautiful grandchildren! SO thankful the cooler days are here for a bit. the weather outside this summer has been frightful to say the least,all though we have had no hurricanes it is the heat that has driven me in doors. tonight ,finally sitting here with the doors open and screens letting in the cool sweet smells of autumn. i hope this means i will get a little creative soon...have you ever had one of those times you just think about projects but do not have the will to sit and start??? and i even have new stuff in the art room to play with. i imagine the cooler days will inspire me as does the fall colors.....

My dads home town and the place where I had such fond memories of as a child are all muddled up in a mass of steel,wood and lives torn apart.I can only pray and hold the thought that the roots of my heritage go deeper than the soil and the family that still is there will rebuild from the ground up..PRAYING...PRAYING.... Lord give them strength,lift them up ,place their feet upon solid ground..

I like to think because I was working on this little snow girl that it snowed here today. You see I live in coastel SC where it NEVER snows... but I adore snow. I love the quiet it brings,the secure feeling of being in a snug house by a warm fire. The way a big snow stops the world. I know it brings trouble too, but so does an excess of anything. BUT TODAY ..I got to step outside in my little world and hear the silence a snow fall brings and that was amazing. Of course it doesn't stay; but I have my snow girl to remember!

My sweet JET painting his punkin...what an artist!these two sweet babies are the fulfillment of my dreams and prayers,,not having children of my own, but being married to the man of my dreams... the only thing missing was grandkids one day...well in comes our best and closest friends (younger than us yet waited to have children many years themselves ...) and VOILA after being married for 32 years I HAVE GRAND BABIES!! they are the sweetest most precious gift in the world. Thank you Lord for hearing my prayers and answering it in the way I never expected! The stories of our lives are never finished till God says so!!!

The beauty of the world around me never ceases to amaze me.God's creation is so perfect,beyond my imagination,every detail set in perfect harmony. This is the first day of my week away from my job and I need to be renewed. I love my job, but it does take alot out of me to see the devastation this disease brings on families( Alzheimer's and other types of dementia). I have said goodbye to too many in the past few weeks and seen too many who are way to young to be afflicted. YET,I KNOW GOD IS IN CONTROL and He has the small details perfectly planned, I TRUST HIS LOVE completely. SO for this week of renewal, I am going to look for the beauty in all things, study His word, listen..AND REST!

Also have been studying on REST in my bible..interesting ..Gods rest is a complete resting on and in Him..He has accomplished it all..I am to yoke myself to Him and look to Him for the next step..It does not mean to cease from action it means to trust Him leading..I CAN DO THAT! with HIS help! love it when he finally gets through to me. and now the creations of my resting......

Have been recuperating form a horrific fall down a flight of concrete steps . Was holding my sweet 2 yr old nephew Jet and lost my balance. Held him tight to me and just took the fall..right on my forehead..wrenched my neck and back and now have two "purty as purple can be" ... BLACK eyes!! what a sight.
The blessed part is that Jet was fine ..not a scratch on him!..I am healing very wel l(lots of love and prayers! ) and hope to post some new work as soon as I can get back to my art table. Until then ... be safe!!

ATC with the peeled paint technique.

PHASE ONE:To give it a really great contrast I used a purple glaze paint, crackle medium was then applied (DRIED) then white acrylic paint...I did not wait the entire 30 min for it to dry ...I SPEEDED IT UP!!! with my handy heat gun....FUN! It ages right in front of you like an alien on a startrek episode...:)

PHASE TWO: I stamped the flower on white tissue paper then lightly colored it and set it on the peeled paint background with gel medium..then added stamped saying same way and little bumblebee to finish it off.....BZZZZZZZZZZZ

White on white with a dab of color...used mulberry paper for texture and a small piece of white paper that was run through the cuddle bug..added white millenary and ...Voila!!!OH and GLITTER!

My mornings start with a good cup of coffee .....then settling in my favorite cozy spot looking out at nature...Enjoy my morning with me..
then off to the studio where Sprout is usually waiting on mom to start crafting..
Sprout is always coming up with great ideas she picks out the fibers while I organize the project..she is SO helpful! :) Lots of ideas and embellishments are in every little container you can see...

Inspiration comes from swaps from Friends and beautiful embroidery work my mom did. My mom passed away very early in her life(70) from complications due to Alzheimer's disease...that is one of the reasons I am a program director of a respite care center for Alzhiemer's patients and their families. http://www.memory-matters.org/

Words are such important things to me ..I gather old books and cut out interesting sentences to put in my art work. Gathering is half the fun of our craft!

When I walk in my studio I feel like I have entered a place where peace and calm reign. My senses are stimulated by the sights, sounds,smells and touch of everything that surrounds me.

Candles burning,water fountain or soft music playing,warm lights,and soft fabrics calling me to come and settle in. Whether I am working on a major piece of art or a fun swap my worries cease, time is suspended and only Me and my room exists. I can leave it clean or messy, I can take a nap,read a book,work or just be. So come....enjoy the little views into my world!

I always take time to read a few of my favorite Mags!!

I love all of my little treasures that make me feel loved...

AND...Of course it is always good to give the outside world a cozy little warning to please do not disturb!

Great stash of goodies today at my favorite thrift store..now I must not hoard them but make them into something!We shall see wht they become over the next few weeks.I say weeks because I am really busy at my day job..and it is all good! Just wish I could work and not get tired! I have such big plans then come home and flop on couch or get on the computer...drained of all creativity.Weekends are spent with chores and realxing ..need to take an art reatreat in my own home and just dedicate one weekend to creating.The hard part is I live at the beach! ARGG I sound so whiney!!

WOW how did we get to june already? i love june so much more than may...may just seems like it gives promises and june fulfills! i am in to alot of soul searching lately and have decided to blog my way through it..my first task is to find out what i really like and get rid of what in my life is unneccesary..starting with worry. useless unproductive worry.it does me more harm than good and never solves a thing. so with that said i shall scour the www for some good thoughts on the subject and come up with a journal page just for you,,TATA,, tomorrow I will unveil my findings.

INK BLOT CHALLENGE

Sometime the fun of creating with art groups is you get pushed beyond your comfort zone. I did in the ink blot challenge. CHALLENGE: Create an ink blot and then make it into something....Creating the inkblot was easy...??? NOoo not for me, I wanted it to be perfect! AHEM aperfect splotch! I inked up the paper, put on a smudge of acrylic black ink and smooshed again and again and again! AND IT WAS FUN! I learned it is fun to try a new, crazy and out of the ordinary project just because it is FUN!

I used an image transfer technique to make "In my house" a little more interesting adding a ghostly lady in the parlor. I love the house cardboard cutouts that I bought at the local "Michaels". After I collaged the papers I painted it with white acrylic paint laid the image (ink jet) picture side down and let it sit a few minutes, burnished it with bone folder, then wet it with small spray of water and rubbed the paper backing off. It can also work with a laser printed image, ink jet gives it a more ghostly quality because the black ink rubs off.

LOVE this saying and really enjoyed using fabric as the background..went outside my usual box and played with black and red! Used a once loved "jewel" in the flower center, added fringe at the bottom for "sassiness"! Plan on living well, laughing often and loving much for the rest of my life!

inchies and beeswax..collage day!

Little inchies are so fun to create, used my fingers to show the mini size of these little beauties. They are great to use on a card as an embellishment. Good way to use up scraps also!

Beeswax was used to make this 5x5 collage. The beeswax was heated directly on the collage using a mini craft iron. The layering is paper and napkins,use one ply. The beeswax will make the thinner papers translucent giving an aged image to the collage. Bi product:Using the wax makes the room smell wonderful and a great thing to do on a cold winter day!
